HOP ... the movie

So this weekend I spent much of my time at the movies... that being said there was one trailer that played just before Rango that grabbed my heart and held on for dear life...



Now that you have been introduced to HOP is it time for you to see the "real" trailer...



Who wouldn't love a bunny that looks like E.B.?  I wish it was April 1st already so because I can't wait for HOP.


In addition to HOP there is another Dreamworks film scheduled to hit theaters in November that I'm sure everyong will love.

2010 Movie Awards -- The Main Event

So after a full week of 12+ hour days and a wild show day it is just about over as I sit at LAX waiting to catch my flight back home to the Big Apple.  It has been one hell of an adventure being on the back-lot at Universal Studios, making runs around the lot as MTV took over the Gibson Amphitheater for the show, and then working the pre-show followed by a much needed drink with the crew at the after party.

I am a little sad that in all of the craziness I completely missed the main show and have been catching up on various performances and clips as I sit here waiting for my flight to board.  In the spirit of the show I wanted to share with you a few of my favorites, just in case you missed the show last night or if you wanted to catch them again.

Get Him to the Greek -- Review

I never thought a film could make me feel like such a sell out.  Truth is, I had a hard enough time trying to sit through the film that started it all, but now with the sequel soon hitting theaters I am dumbfounded as to why I even thought Aldus Snow could redeem himself.  Get Him to the Greek feels like a cheap knock off in comparison to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and yet with all of the "names" in the film I can't believe a story like this could even be made.  Don't get me wrong, I love Russell brand.  I love his stand-up and I love what he did with the VMAs as the host two years in a row.  My problem with this film is that it was just straight up sell out.  But I can be sure on what end is the cause.

Is it for the fact that "Diddy" is involve?  Is it because MTV Networks has branded itself all over the film?  Is it because I was the only person in the theater that actually laughed when Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) made a cameo appearance during a British bar scene and Jonah Hill pulled out a Harry Potter joke, which sadly was the funniest joke in the entire film.  Unfortunately there was so much wrong with the film that I feel like it just sold itself out to be the biggest joke in the world.  From the opening scenes of "mockumentary", with TMZ, tabloid, and other popular forms of entertainment news covering the rise and fall of the "rock star" we would soon be following.  With clips of MTV News interviews shot in the building and straight through to the "happy ending" with a Vh1 Storytellers, I cannot stop myself from questioning who owed who a favor.  Is it a desperate ploy to try and rake in bucks off a film that "has potential"?  And I don't care if Diddy is just playing himself, had I known he was a part of the project prior to the screening I would not have wasted my time, no matter how much I enjoy watching Brand make a complete fool of himself on screen.  (Russell I am sorry for that comment but I cannot help it in this instance.).

If you really want to watch a "has been rocker story" stay home and watch the real thing for free.  Get Him To The Greek is a complete waist of time and money.  I give this flick a 1 out of 5.

MTV European Music Awards 2009 (EMAs)

The EMAs took place this past Thursday, and I feel that I should share with you a little bit of the show as I'm sure some people out there either not aware of or did not have the ability to watch the show. I will not give away any information about the show, if you are at all interested in finding out more about the event there are links at the end of this post for you to be able to check out clips from the show, view who the winners are, and maybe even watch the entire show if it has been posted. But now to get back to the event.

The show opened with a mix of songs performed by the host, Katy Perry. The thing that I find so fascinating about Ms. Perry is that she is a true performer. Any time I have seen her set foot on stage, be it for a show or an interview or even just a rehearsal, she always gives you 100% of her and a performance that you are not likely to forget. Below is the opening number she performed during this year's EMAs. It's a little naughty and a little nice, but an awful lot of fun.



The first time she hosted the EMAs was in 2008 and the the opening number was a little less flashy but just as much fun to watch. It was her honesty just after the performance that I enjoy because it reminds us that even pop stars get nervous.

On a final note, not so much EMA related but still MTV related, I would like to share this clip as a final hurra in honor of the 2009 VMAs. This promo is amazing. It shows talent, creativity, and the wonderful sense of humor that comes along for the ride when a host like Russell Brand throws his humor into the mix. Whoever the genius is at MTV that came up with this promo please stand up and take a bow!
